The government has many programs in place to encourage college students to come and work in these fields.  One such program is designed to award students with state scholarships and after graduation work for the state in designated areas for a specify time.  This of coarse provides great benefits for many students who will not have to look for work after graduation.

It is a good idea when considering applying for state scholarships to know what the advantages and disadvantages are going in.  It’s common that many state scholarships are awarded to those students who have graduated from the state in which they attended high school.  Why? Because there is a huge advantage when you consider tuition cost.  In-state tuition is known to be cheaper than out-of-state tuition. So when a student is awarded an in-state scholarship, the awarders can be more openhanded by extending a greater amount than normal.  This is one way that they say thanks for staying in your state and contributing to the state success.  In many other ways, students can be awarded merit and need base scholarships by in-state schools because of the competition in many areas such as science, athletics, music or any other special talents.
